Spike to do MXC, the original, not the ripoff, this weekend
Filed under: Other Reality Shows, Programming, OpEd, Game Show Spike TV is calling this holiday weekend, "MXC, The Original, Not the Ripoff, Weekend." On July 5th and 6th the network will be paying homage to Spike's original series based on a Japanese game show. Wait, so doesn't that make Spike's show the ripoff of the Japanese show? Maybe not. MXC uses real footage from the reality game show Takeshi's Castle and creates a whole new comedic storyline.
Spike TV makes sure to point out that MXC is not dubbed or a literal translation of Takeshi's Castle. The show is...

Try to keep up ... Kim Kardashian is launching a perfume line
Filed under: Other Reality Shows, Industry, OpEd, Celebrities, Super Skank Wednesday Fans of skanktastic television will love this news. Kim Kardashian and her ass, both stars of E!'s Keeping Up with the Kardashians, are launching a line of perfume. She announced this news on her blog, which, by the way, is one of my favorite blogs. It's wonderfully delusional and self-congratulatory.
I'll indulge you in a sample, "It has always been a dream of mine to start my own perfume business, since I love to mix fragrances together and come up with new and different scents!...

On this show, TLC will follow three moms as they enter the daunting world of dating as a single mother. The three mothers who currently balance their careers and raising their children will step out of their comfort zones to date and maybe even find a lifelong partner.
Not so sure about this show. According to the press release, "With an estimated 10.4 million single mothers in the U.S., these three single moms will undoubtedly inspire others...

Filed under: Programming, 24, Reality-Free Even though 24 isn't actually coming back on the air for another, what is it? Nine years? Ten? (Okay, January '09, but still), there's news coming out about next season. While a very pregnant Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays Chloe, has already begun filming on Day 7 of the series, Rajskub's impending due date will force her to take a hiatus from Jack Bauer's really long, bad day. So who's going to lie for Jack and help him out with all of his nerd toys? None other than Chloe's sourpuss ex, Morris O'Brian (Carlo Rota)....

Strangest Six Feet Under couples
Filed under: Retro Squad, TV Squad Lists, Reality-Free, Six Feet Under The characters on Six Feet Under were fascinating to watch, but they often made horrible romantic choices. Even the couples that stood the test of time had their issues. Most of the truly memorable train wrecks didn't last, though. Here's a look back at some of the show's weirdest relationships.
Ruth Fisher and Arthur Martin - Ruth and Arthur's relationship was arguably the most awkward pairing in Six Feet Under history. Apart from the significant age difference, the relationship suffered from a lack of physical intimacy. You...

I bought the Mad Men lighters, now I have to start smoking
Filed under: Reality-Free, Mad Men I mentioned in my review of the first Mad Men episode that the show makes me want to start smoking and drinking a lot. Now I have another reason to take up smoking (or should I say return as I did smoke for one summer as a teen): I got the two new collectible lighters yesterday.
They're both pretty damn cool and look a lot like the limited edition, lighter-shaped DVD set for the first season of the show. The limited edition lighter features the full Mad Men logo (the title and the back of the man's head and arm) and is numbered (only...
