The 14 greatest TV eateries
Filed under: Other Drama Shows, Other Comedy Shows, Food/Home/DIY, Lost, Scrubs, The Simpsons, Animation, Seinfeld, TV Squad Lists Welcome to TV Squad Lists (formerly 'The Five'), a feature where each blogger has a chance to list his or her own rundown of things in television that stand out from the rest, both good and bad.
Last week I gave you a pretty big list of popular "drinkeries" from TV, but I think where I went wrong was trying too hard to list every watering hole possible. Since I'm covering eateries this...

TV's Top 5!: Seinfeld alums need jobs too
Filed under: Other Comedy Shows, Everybody Hates Chris, The CW, Seinfeld This is a public service announcement to Jason Alexander.
Life after Seinfeld has been really tough for you has it? I mean not as tough as Michael Richards who should follow Isaiah Washington into "pottymouth rehab", but you haven't exactly parlayed your existence into other gigs like Julia Louis-Dreyfus in The New Adventures of Old Christine. Our enthusiasm for the dimwitted loveable man has been curbed towards Larry David, who helped you become a star. Even the virtually unknown Seinfeld writer Spike Feresten has...

Jesse Jackson calls for Seinfeld boycott
Filed under: Other Comedy Shows, Industry, OpEd, Syndicated, Watercooler Talk, Celebrities, Seinfeld If you've been following the Michael Richards apology tour, you know that the actor made an appearance on the Reverend Jesse Jackson's Keep Hope Alive radio program in which he claimed to be "shattered" by his own remarks. That wasn't good enough for the Rev. The day after Richards' appearance, Jackson called for a boycott of the recent seventh season Seinfeld DVD release to punish the actor where it really hurts - the pocketbook.
How boycotting the Seinfeld DVD set would actually hurt...

The Five: Big hits with humble beginnings
Filed under: Other Drama Shows, Other Comedy Shows, OpEd, Boston Legal, CSI, Grey's Anatomy, The Five, Seinfeld It's quite ironic that on Sunday night, ABC aired an episode of Boston Legal in the 10 PM time slot and called it a "special time." Most people forget this, but as my brother Rich pointed out in his review of the episode, Sunday at 10 was the show's original time slot, until the network put a new medical show called Grey's Anatomy into that slot in late March 2005.
The intention was to air Grey's in that...

Kramer has a Mel Gibson moment
Filed under: Web, Celebrities, Seinfeld TMZ will be the downfall of more than one celebrity. The LA gossip hounds have posted video of Michael Richards' soon-to-be infamous Laugh Factory performance in West Hollywood.
On Friday night, Richards proved that trying to shake the Seinfeld curse can get to a guy. In the middle of his stand-up routine, Richards took on two hecklers with a racist tirade that included your standard issue racial epithets along with this charmer, "Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a fucking fork up your ass." It was, of course, caught on tape by someone in attendance. Richards...

A fast Q&A with Spike Feresten
Filed under: Other Comedy Shows, FOX, Interviews, Celebrities, Seinfeld, Talk Show, NYTVF If you've never heard of Spike Feresten, you've at least heard some of his funny words. As a writer on Seinfeld, he penned "The Soup Nazi" episode, which many consider one of the best on the classic series. He also wrote for SNL, Late Show with David Letterman and The Dana Carvey Show.
Now he's in front of the camera with TALKSHOW with Spike Feresten(Saturdays at midnight on FOX), his twisted take on the tried-and-true...

Seinfeld: The Keys (season finale)
Filed under: Other Comedy Shows, TV on DVD, OpEd, Retro Squad, Seinfeld (S03E22) Like I said when we started this whole Retro Squad exercise, the reason why I picked Season Three of Seinfeld is because during this year you really saw the show develop before your eyes from a pokey, single-story, funny, but unremarkable sitcom to a densely-packed, fast-moving, hilarious classic. And the season finale, "The Keys," is a great example of the show's metamorphosis. Jerry and George's dispute over the spare keys, the whole spare key trade-around among the Fab Four, Elaine's secret Murphy Brown spec script, and Kramer's journey...

Seinfeld: The Parking Space
Filed under: Other Comedy Shows, TV on DVD, OpEd, Retro Squad, Seinfeld (S03E21) I'm the only person I know who actually drives in New York. The funny thing is, the only reason why I drive is because I live 30 miles away from the city, and I tend to find that sometimes driving is much faster than taking the train. But if I were actually living there, I'd ditch my car in a nanosecond. Most people who live in New York don't own a car, because it's too tough to find parking and the subway can get them to just...

Seinfeld: The Letter
Filed under: Other Comedy Shows, TV on DVD, OpEd, Retro Squad, Seinfeld (S03E20) I know this episode was produced over fourteen years ago, but it was still hard for me to recognize Catherine Keener in this episode. I'm usually pretty good at recognizing younger versions of now well-known actors, but even when I watched this episode the other day, I was surprised when the "Notes on Nothing" mentioned that Nina, Jerry's jealous artist girlfriend, was played by Keener. Maybe it was because she was younger, or it could have been her hair or something. Either way, she did a great job in...
