Insert Caption: College
Filed under: Fandom, Contests, Insert Caption Welcome back to another edition of Insert Caption -- the game that makes beer pong look like a visit to the dentist's office. Last week we asked you to rock our worlds and come up with your funniest caption for a photo from the new movie Hamlet 2. Needless to say, you delivered all that and then some ...
 1. "Since the school won't teach you the theory of evolution, I have decided to teach it through the wonders of interpretive dance." -- Ryan S.
2. "...come on you guys I am very clearly a mailbox, I have never...

Fan Made: Dave Perillo Animates Pop Culture and Movies
Filed under: Fandom
From Doctor Who and Rod Sterling to Wonder Woman and Godzilla, Illustrator Dave Perillo has been morphing pop culture for a while now. While reading through /film today, I came across a post on his artwork and I had to share. This guy has done it all. Sloth and Chunk. Lando Calrissian. V. Nacho Libre. And the wonderful, ginormous chin of Ash.
If you haven't checked his art out yet, please go to Montygog's Art-O-Rama and check it out. It's really great. That being said, it does leave me with sad-fan nostalgia for Clone High, since a lot of the art looks very...

Discuss: What's the Greatest Cult Movie?
Just attempting to make a small list of any large field of film will immediately invoke dissatisfaction. It doesn't matter if you cloak it in your own personal favorites, or try to narrow it down to a specific theme. Someone, somewhere will say you're missing X, or have forgotten Y. I get that, and I try not to be one of those people when I scoff at lists I don't agree with.
But sometimes it's just inevitable, especially when the lists talk about super-loved geek fare or cult favorites. Both have die-hard fans, and when it comes to the cult genre, it's fans who adore and...

Why Won't Alex Proyas Direct 'Silver Surfer'?
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, RumorMonger, Celebrities and Controversy, Fandom, 20th Century Fox, Newsstand, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels You have to feel bad for the Silver Surfer. Everyone else is getting their own spin-off and franchise, and he can't even get the green-light. J. Michael Straczynski already said that his script was dead, but rumors continued to swirl that Alex Proyas was attached to direct.
But as reported by Slashfilm, Proyas shot that down at ComicCon. He didn't even know where the rumor originated. And while he's very fond of...

Comic Creators Respond to Warner Bros' 'Dark Superman' Idea
Filed under: Action, Warner Brothers, Celebrities and Controversy, Fandom, Newsstand, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels It seems the entire comic book and film world "misread" Warner Bros' announcement that they were angling to make Superman's reboot a gloomier one. No one seems to have read the original article slowly enough -- not even MTV, Kevin Smith, Christopher Golden, Jeph Loeb, Steven T. Seagle, or Mark Waid.
The wonderful geeks over on MTV's Splash Page chased down all the above, and asked them what they thought about the studio's latest plans for the Man of Steel. The...

Fan Made: Living Green in a Hobbit House!
And I thought that Star Trek apartment was pretty insane. Our fellow Weblogs site Green Daily has posted about a fully-functional Hobbit house. Talk about uber fandom. I mean, it would've been a feat to just replicate a Hobbit house, but to make it an actual home? That's super-cool and environmentally friendly dedication.
It seems that Wales resident Simon Dale wanted his family to live greener lifestyles and be closer to nature. What else is there to do but envelope yourself in bright green moss, and every little bit of nature? The new home is made from mud and rocks found right there. Solar panels store juice for...

Fan Made: Han Frozen in Carbonite Cake
Yeah, okay. So this isn't the first Fan Made post about carbonite. Erik has already shared George Lucas frozen in the tough stuff, but this new Fan Made is a whole lot tastier (I presume). I mean, George could be a conversation starter and all, but it's also a little bit scary, I imagine very pricey, and you can't eat it. But you can eat the above.Today a friend sent me a link to Michele's Confectionary Delights, where I found the super-awesome cake above. While it's not a spitting image of Han Solo, I just love this cake -- it's a good example of a little ingenuity trumping...

Screenwriter Dishes Some Early Tidbits on 'Transformers 2'
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fandom, Scripts, Dreamworks, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels I'm not one of those waiting for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen with a whole lot of anticipation. I feel bad about saying that, but let's face it, Transformers passed me right by as I was playing with Strawberry Shortcake. Many have tried to re-educate me on the awesomeness of Optimus Prime, and failed.
Nevertheless, even I have to admit it's pretty cool when a screenwriter drops in among their fans for a good sequel chat. That's what Robert Orci, one of the scriptwriters...

Cast and Crew Head Back for Some Extra 'Twilight' Shooting
Filed under: Horror, Romance, Fandom, DIY/Filmmaking, Newsstand No, Twilightfans -- it's ok! This is good news and it isn't going to result in a delay of the movie. Summit wouldn't break your hearts like that. Even though the clock is ticking, the studio is taking a bit of time to smooth out the movie's kinks. According to MTV, they're going back and filming some extra scenes, months after principle photography wrapped -- a move planned long before Twilight snagged the vacant Harry Potter date.
It isn't because anyone's dissatisfied with the film -- the cast insists the opposite is true. "They liked it...

New Calendar Images from 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince'
Filed under: Classics, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Warner Brothers, Fandom, Family Films, Movie Marketing, Harry Potter, Remakes and Sequels, Images Alejandro Martínez over at BlogHogwarts has sent us a bunch of images from the just-released Harry Potter and the Half BloodPrince calender. I know, it's hard to get excited about anything associated with a movie we won't see until July, but a calender can help alleviate your pain by giving you a little dose of Harry Potter all through 2009. Right? Ok, maybe not. You have to hand it to Warner Bros -- of all the...
